Itinerary
Your adventure begins with a morning pick-up from your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe, followed by a scenic drive to Kibale National Park. The drive takes approximately 5-6 hours and passes through lush countryside and rolling hills. You will stop for lunch in Fort Portal, a town nestled in the shadows of the Rwenzori Mountains. Afterward, you will continue to your lodge near the park, where you will check-in and relax in preparation for the exciting chimpanzee tracking experience the following day.
After an early breakfast, you’ll head into Kibale Forest for the highly anticipated chimpanzee tracking experience. Accompanied by an experienced guide, you will venture deep into the dense rainforest in search of chimpanzees. As you track these primates, you may also spot other animals, including colobus monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, and various bird species. Once you locate the chimpanzees, you will spend an hour observing their behavior as they swing from tree to tree, feed, and socialize.
In the afternoon, you have the option of going on a nature walk in the nearby Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, a community-run project known for its rich biodiversity, including monkeys, butterflies, and over 200 bird species. Alternatively, you can relax at your lodge.
On the final day of your chimpanzee tracking adventure, you will enjoy a leisurely breakfast before beginning your journey back to Kampala or Entebbe. Along the way, you’ll have opportunities to take in the scenic views and stop for a quick lunch. You will be dropped off at your hotel or at the airport, marking the end of your adventure.
